About us.

Nautical Wholesale Seafood is a boutique start-up seafood business comprising of 2 fisherman and 2 boats, operating on the mid north coast of NSW.

With a background in professional fishing and spearfishing, we are focused on sustainably supplying the freshest, wild caught seafood in Australia.

Our point of difference is quality-focus over quantity, ensuring the highest standards of produce handling and preservation between the ocean and our vendors.

Luke Buchholz

I was born in the Blue Mountains, but moved to the coast at a young age -  namely South West Rocks.

Growing up on the coast, my love for the ocean and all things fishing and spear fishing grew into an obsession. My trade as an electrician allowed me to live across 4 states, also spending 18 months of my career overseas in South Korea and New Zealand. All the while, my passion for the ocean never waning.

When my wife Kristie and I decided to start a family, we moved from Melbourne back to South West Rocks to enjoy the slower pace, and to give commerical fishing a shot.

My obsession for the ocean and all things in it is now my workplace and I couldn’t be happier. I have a real drive to protect what we have and produce the best wild caught seafood on offer for everyone to enjoy. Hopefully I can pass this on to my children so they can enjoy a life on the ocean as I am.

How we work.

  • Wholesale

We offer a range of flexible wholesale options, suitable for larger-scale fishmongers and wholesalers.

  • Ocean to plate

Nautical Wholesale Seafood partners with some of Australia’s most exciting restauranteurs to provide high quality, sustainably-caught seafood options for diners.

  • Caught to order

We offer a range of options to source and supply produce for functions and events at any scale and requirement.

“I like the fact that there is traceability now. Customers can ask the question, who caught this? And people are starting to ask those questions - who caught it and where was it caught? I feel like that’s the way the industry’s going and that’s the way it needs to go. You know, I want this here for my kids and hopefully one day it’s still here for my kid’s kids.”
